How To Access an Application using your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Authenticator App

When logged into AMS with your AMS credentials or NIH credentials, you have the ability to step-up to a more secure method using your MFA Authenticator App. Applications allowing use of an Authenticator App will have an "MFA" icon to the right of the application link.

Note: To use your Authenticator App, you must complete the MFA Registration on AMS desktop site first. Please refer to the "How to Register Your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Authenticator App" job aid for further details.

  1. From your homepage, you can access any application with the "MFA" icon using this authentication method.

Note: Application with lock icons are PIV exclusive and requires an HSPD-12 access card for authentication only.
